Clients FAQs

What is Stock Photography?

Every day you see thousands of images in magazines, packaging, posters, online and on TV. But very few of these images were created specifically for that product, promotion or concept - what you're seeing is stock photography. Stock photos are ready-made images that are licensable for use in your advertising or promotional materials to illustrate specific things, concepts or ideas. Kraas Images, collection of Caribbean focused media are just the beginning - they are the raw materials to get your graphic design started.

What does it mean to 'license' an image?

When you "purchase" content on you are actually purchasing a license for the rights to use that content. The price of the content is based on the type of license you choose and, in the case of rights-managed images and rights managed footage, the usage specifications you provide. Usage specifications can include the size of the content being used, placement, duration of use and geographic distribution. Depending on who you identify as the "licensee", either you (the purchaser) or someone else (3rd party individual or company, such as a client) will own the right to use the content as outlined in the licensing agreement.

How do I price content on

During your search, you'll find content that is designated as either royalty-free (RF) or rights-managed (RM). Prices for royalty-free content are based on file size, and are available right when you select an image. Rights-managed licensing requires a few extra clicks to define usage specifications and establish pricing. Payments are accepted through Paypal using your major credit and debit cards, locally and internationally.

What is Royalty-Free (RF)?

Royalty Free does not mean Free. Royalty Free (RF) means that after the initial permission is secured, through payment, additional uses can be made without payment. RF is multiple uses of an image, illustration, footage and/or audio free of royalties after one time payment.

Pay once, put the photo on a t-shirt, upload it to your website, print out some fliers, get it tattooed on your forehead. It’s all clear!

What is Rights Managed (RM)?

Rights-Managed (RM) is a type of usage license, where the creator and the user reach a more tightly controlled agreement regarding multiple uses. A RM license offers benefits including exclusivity and larger distribution and is issued on a pay per use basis. RM images are suggested for any high-visibility uses, such as national marketing, or when the image will be closely associated with a product or service.

Benefits of using a RM images includes:

Exclusive rights - You, and only you, are able to use the stock image during the license duration. This keeps competitors from copying and diluting your advertising and marketing materials.

Larger print runs and distribution - RM generally allows for larger print runs, in comparison to royalty free images.

Usage history- We keep a detailed usage history on our rights managed inventory. This allows you to see where and when an image was used in the past.

How do I give my client (a third-party) ownership of the image license?

During the purchase process, designate your client as licensee by entering your client's name into the "License to" field. The client then becomes the owner of the specified license for that particular content (whether imagery, footage or music). You can use the confirmation document emailed to you for client reference.

Does offer refunds?

Yes, for rights-managed images. If an image or clip does not meet your needs and you have not used the image/clip, you can return it for a refund within 7 days. Kraas Images does not offer for royalty-free content.
