How much does a contributor make/what is the royalty structure?

Kraas Images pays contributors’ a royalty rate of of 55% for each royalty free file sold and 60% on Editorial content.

Pay as you go

When someone licenses your content using a credit card or their PayPal account, you earn your royalty based on the net amount paid to download your image.

We pay your royalty level bases on cost of subscription and how many of your files have been used. This is a monthly measurement of how many of your images clients have used.

How long does it take to have my files inspected?

The content managers at KraasImages do an amazing job with the number of files inspected in a week. Typically it takes around a week or so to have your files reviewed. However based on the volume at any given time, this could fluctuate from a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

Contact for any queries.

What is Royalty-Free RF?

Royalty Free does not mean Free. Royalty Free (RF) means that after the initial permission is secured, through payment, additional uses can be made without payment. RF is multiple uses of an image, illustration, footage and/or audio free of royalties after one time payment.

Pay once, put the photo on a t-shirt, upload it to your website, print out some fliers, get it tattooed on your forehead. It’s all clear!

Does Kraas Images owner of intellectual property (I.P)?

Absolutely not. KraasImages sub-license your intellectual property (I.P.).

Sub-license is when a copyright holder licenses his/her work to someone else and authorises the licensee to sublicense the work. That is, when the licensee distributes the work, within the scope of rights granted by the licensor, the licensee is not only a (re)distributor but also a licensor of sub-license between him/her and the other party (licensee of a sub-license).

What is Aggregated Licensing?

This is the process of bundling and sub-licensing photos, illustrations, footage and audio that are similar in production, style, theme or demand, forming a collection or series.

Why Aggregate?

They’re two reasons KraasImages may wish to aggregate content.

First, aggregation can directly increase the value available from a set of photos, illustration, footage or audio, because of technological complementaries in production, distribution or consumption. It is more cost effective to deliver a few hundred images in the form of a collection or series than to separately deliver each of the individual files.

Secondly, aggregation can make it easier for the buyer to extract value from a given set of collection or series than in its individual form.

What does KraasImages mean by Exclusivity?

KraasImages requires that any content submitted not be sublicense to a similar entity. This allows KraasImages to detect and illicit usage of content submitted and act on behalf of our contributors in protecting their intellectual property.

Keywording tips

Ensuring that your content is described accurately and the relevant tags are done, is very important. While it is admittedly easier to copy and paste all your tags and descriptions, especially when uploading series, we would like to encourage that you take the time to make sure any irrelevant ones are removed.

Think about one word that communicates something about your file and add some lists of synonyms as your tags. Don’t stretch your tags in order to generate more hits for a file. This can be frustrating for buyers who tend to search literally.

Better tagging means better search results, bringing in more users, which means more sales for your images. The sooner everyone disambiguates their files and checks their tags for accuracy, the sooner searches will improve.
